What is clear, (...) is the rich diversity of Émard's dance vocabulary and his suberb eye for detail and composition. Terrains Vagues is a superbly crafted piece of work and a fine acquisition for New Moves. Émard succeeds in making his four dancers into true characters. They are all very good dancers, but they also turn in performances that put their technical skills to best use. With Terrains vagues, Sylvain Émard has made an important step in his artistic career. Not only because he has given life to a language, with all the desired complexity and subtlety, but also because he has demonstrated that dancers are above all human beings, a fact that new dance sometimes forgets (...).
