Le Petit Continental
In 2009 the renowned choreographer Sylvain Émard presented Le Grand Continental at Festival TransAmériques. Since then, this very contemporary form of square dancing has not only been bringing together amateur dancers of all ages and diverse cultural origins and backgrounds, but also charming audiences the world over.
With Le Petit Continental, the residents of the city have the opportunity to enjoy a short version of Le Grand Continental. Over the course of 8 rehearsals, 50 participants learn the dance steps of a 10-minute choreography and make it their own. They perform one section from this popular dance show, and also collaborate on an original work. For the very first time Sylvain Émard ask dancers to create a unique dance piece, with their direct input.
